jWash — SaaS Platform for Car Wash Businesses
A multi-tenant platform that gives car wash businesses an online presence, online booking and management tools.
Overview
jWash is a software-as-a-service platform for car wash businesses in Brazil. Each business gets a public storefront with its services and prices, an online booking flow with availability, and an owner dashboard for services, opening hours, team, customers, vehicles and bookings.
Context
The product started from the observation that many car wash businesses have little digital presence and few tools for organizing bookings and customer history. jWash was designed to give a small business a professional online presence and everyday operational tools without requiring technical knowledge.
Solution
A modular-monolith backend in Java and Spring Boot, a React and TypeScript frontend that consumes it through REST APIs, and a PostgreSQL database with versioned migrations. Every business is a tenant of the same application.
Architecture and engineering approach
- Modular monolith: a single deployable application organized in modules with clear boundaries; microservices were deliberately not introduced.
- Shared-schema multi-tenancy: tenant-owned data carries a tenant identifier, and the tenant of a request comes from the authenticated user, never from client input.
- Stateless token-based authentication with email verification, password reset, two-factor authentication (TOTP) and passkeys (WebAuthn).
- Availability is calculated from business hours, exceptions and existing bookings, and visit records use optimistic locking.
- A registry-based storefront theme system: eight visual themes share a single booking flow.
- The platform includes subscription billing with a trial lifecycle, invoices and PIX payments.
